A 59-year-old Curry County jail inmate died Sunday night from heart-related issues.
Jose Segovia was pronounced dead at 8:05 p.m. after being transported to Plains Regional Medical Center complaining of chest pains, according to Undersheriff Wesley Waller.
Waller said Segovia was on medication for a heart condition and was being treated by the facility’s nurse, who called an ambulance for him at 7:07 p.m.
There is no indication of any external factors that may have contributed to Segovia’s death, he said.
“His medical history indicated that he had suffered two heart attacks previously during his life(time),” Waller said.
Segovia had been in the facility since March 9 awaiting adjudication on charges of aggravated DWI, third offense, failing to comply with release conditions and numerous traffic offenses.
