Kevin Duncan won the Republican slot for Curry County Probate Judge on Tuesday and will now finish his race unopposed.
Incumbent Duncan edged Ribble Holloman with a 1,604-1,447 final count — a 5.14 percent lead.
Duncan said he’s not sure what made the difference for him in the primary.
“I knew it was going to be a tight race. He’s a good man and lots of people like him,” Duncan said of Holloman. “But it’s nice to be retained and have the support of the community.”
Duncan was attending his son’s ballgame when results came in.
Duncan said he has enjoyed serving as probate judge and feels like he is able to help people beyond the services he provides in his work at Steed-Todd Funeral Home.
“I’ve really enjoyed it, it’s been a real gratifying position,” he said.
Duncan said he plans to serve the coming term and at this time, has no further aspirations for elected office.
“I’ll just take it one step at a time,” he said.
