Brothers arrested on shooting charge

Two men are in jail and a Clovis man is in stable condition after a shooting at a party Saturday morning.

Angel Fernandez is being treated at a Lubbock hospital for a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to Clovis Police Capt. Patrick Whitney.

Whitney said the shooting occurred around 4 a.m. at 2310 Bobwhite Ct. in the Town Talk mobile home park.

Brothers Joey, 19, and Robert Sena, 20, are in custody, charged with the shooting. Whitney said both face charges of shooting at a dwelling, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Witnesses told police Joey Sena was at the party and took his shirt off, causing an argument.

“Some of the other folks didn’t like that because it wasn’t his house and told him to put his shirt back on.” Whitney said. When Sena refused, he said a fist fight broke out and Sena was “ejected” from the party.

Witnesses said Joey Sena returned later with his brother, Robert.

“(Joey) Sena got out of the vehicle yelling something. (Witnesses) heard gunshots and ran for cover,” Whitney said, explaining Fernandez was struck in the abdomen and another round lodged in the residence. The pair then fled the scene.

Police found 9 mm casings at the scene.

Whitney said it is unknown if Fernandez, 21, was an intended target or struck at random.

The Sena brothers were identified as suspects through witness interviews and statements, Whitney said.

Joey Sena was arrested during a traffic stop at Grand and Connelly streets a few hours later Saturday morning as he was on his way to a wedding reception, Whitney said.
