GILLETTE, Wyo. — Dora High’s Jesse Clark is third in tiedown roping heading into today’s final performance in the National High School Finals Rodeo.
Clark posted a time of 10.947 seconds in Friday’s second go-round which, combined with his event-best 8.68 in the first go, left him with a time of 19.627 seconds in the average.
The final round of competition is set for 7 p.m. today.
Cody Huber of Albia, Iowa, is in first place with a time of 18.636 seconds.
Clark was ninth in the second go of steer wrestling at 5.257 and currently ranks 31st in the average at 19.652.
The top 20 in each event go to the finals.
Clark also is third in all-round boys cowboy standings with 410 points.
As a state, New Mexico is in third place in girls competition with 1,540 points, tied for fifth with Arkansas with 1,715 points in boys competition and fourth in overall standings with 3,255 points.
