Mesalands president sentenced

Mesalands Community College President Phillip Barry was sentenced to the state’s First Offender Program for driving under the influence, Second Judicial District Assistant District Attorney Susan Stinson said Tuesday.

Barry’s sentence includes one year of deferred supervised probation, according to Stinson, and he must have an ignition interlock installed in his vehicle for one year, attend a victim impact panel and must complete 24 hours of community service.

Barry was found guilty of driving under the influence Sept. 2, according to court documents. He was arrested Oct. 16, 2009, in Albuquerque.
