Responders reacted with diligence
A recent Internet piece named New Mexico as one of the least favored states for good medical care. I have lived in Clovis since 1967 and have heard many conversations about the lack of quality medical care in Clovis.
No doubt, some of the complaints have merit. However, I was the emergency response chaplain on duty Sunday when a 4-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle. It was a tragic accident and the pain of all involved was beyond words.
The purpose of this letter is to comment on the emergency personnel, the law enforcement, ambulance crew and hospital medical staff.
I witnessed a group of professionals who worked frantically and gave their all and then some in their valiant effort to keep a little boy alive.
While I have the deepest sympathies for family and friends affected by this tragedy, I also want to offer my heartfelt thanks to the group of hospital personnel who gave everything they had, hoping to change the outcome of this tragedy.
I saw a committed and concerned group of people that deserve a word of thanks from all of us.
