DURANT, Okla. — Lunden Azuara collected 15 kills, 22 digs and three aces Saturday and Southeastern Oklahoma snapped Eastern New Mexico University’s three-match winning streak with a 25-16, 25-22, 20-25, 26-24 Lone Star Conference volleyball victory over the Zias.
Brittany McDonald added 12 kills and Courtney Miller had 11 kills and 13 digs for the Savage Storm (6-12, 3-5 LSC). Junior outside hitter Kristen Beck had 14 kills and junior middle blocker Jessica King chipped in 12 kills and four total blocks for the Zias (11-11, 3-5).
Southeastern led much of the way in the first two sets, but the Zias never trailed in the third, opening a 20-12 lead, capped by two kills each from King and Beck, and coasting in to cut their deficit to 2-1.
The Savage Storm scored the first four points of game 4, but the Zias battled back to forge several ties, the last at 24-24 on a kill by junior middle blocker Stacey Main. Taylor Clinebell’s kill put Southeastern back in front, and McDonald followed with a kill on match point.
Sophomore libero Dallas Russell had 16 digs for ENMU, while senior setter Veronica Valdez-Kent contributed 47 assists and 10 digs and sophomore outside hitter Amber Durand posted 10 kills and 12 digs.
The Zias open a three-match LSC homestand on Thursday in a 7 p.m. start against Texas A&M-Kingsville at Greyhound Arena.
