Letters to the editor: City should pursue property liens

I read in Thursday’s paper that we are facing huge tax increases (yes, tax) for trash handling and disposal.

City employees have told me there are a number of properties in Clovis that are in arrears on their sewage bill. Claire Burroughes, the city’s community relations director, said they have $391,000 worth of past-due bills more than 6 months old.

Is an increase then necessary?

When did the city last file liens to collect monies owed?

I enjoy living in Clovis and Curry County, but I don’t know how much longer I can afford to do so.
