Cannon Air Force Base will be conducting an operational readiness exercise until Oct. 29, according to a news release.
The release said the exercise began Wednesday.
Residents on or near the base may notice increased activity, use of the public address system and may hear sirens and simulated explosions, the release said.
The Air Force said the exercises help hone the skill of airmen under simulated wartime conditions.
Residents living on or visiting the base should note that traffic delays, closures or limited services may occur, according to the release.
