Wildcats roll past Hobbs in district opener

The Clovis Wildcats posted 532 yards of offense and cruised to a 54-14 win over Hobbs 54-14 Friday at Leon Williams Stadium in the District 4-5A opener for both teams.

Raymond Beachum, who finished with a season-high 170 yards on 14 carries, scored on runs of 16, 13 and 18 yards in the first half as Clovis (4-5) raced to a 34-7 halftime lead.

Junior Tre Orozco scored on a 51-yard run in the first quarter and a 35-yard pass from Jordan Hill. He finished with 105 yards rushing on 10 carries.

Juan Rivas rushed seven times for 28 yards and scored twice for the Wildcats.

Garrett Reber and Tanner Wilson had rushing TDs for Hobbs (4-5).
