History challenge

The Contemporary New Mexico History Challenge Exam is Dec. 7.

There is a $25 non-refundable fee for the exam.

Four study sessions are available at no additional cost.

Deadline to apply is Nov. 30 and applications are available at the CHS guidance office.

Today in history

On this day in 1947, the Hughes Flying Boat—the largest aircraft ever built—is piloted by designer Howard Hughes on its first and only flight.

Built with laminated birch and spruce, the massive wooden aircraft had a wingspan longer than a football field and was designed to carry more than 700 men to battle.
