County refunded for software
Curry County has received a full refund for a $17,000 jail management software purchase.
The refund was received Friday, according to county e-mails provided by County Manager Lance Pyle.
Commissioners approved purchase of the upgraded Sleuth software in April.
County officials previously said purchasing Sleuth — also used by local law enforcement agencies — was to make data accessible to all agencies and streamline and eliminate issues at the jail, such as the mistaken release of inmates.
After a few months of use, jail officials said the software was not accomplishing those goals and didn’t offer what they had expected.
Use of the software was discontinued, and Pyle said the jail is using its previous system until replacement software can be purchased.
