Community members are being invited to participate in a 12-week citizens’ police academy.
The academy is designed to acquaint citizens with the diversity in a police officer’s career, and it highlights areas such as criminal law, investigations, traffic and crash investigations, drug enforcement and domestic violence, according to a press release.
Participants will also experience hands-on exercises in crime-scene investigations, firearms and driving.
Conducted by the Clovis Police Department, Curry County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police, the program has an application deadline of Feb. 4.
The first class will be held Feb. 22.
