Jefferson (Sr., F, Fort Worth, Texas/ North Crowley HS/Tyler JC) from the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team has been selected as the Lone Star Conference South Division’s Men’s Defensive Player of the Week, for his outstanding performances against Angelo State and Abilene Christian, last week.
Jefferson is the second Greyhound to receive weekly LSC recognition this season, as Aaron Edwards (Jr., F, Long Beach, Calif. / Gardena HS/San Bernardino Valley College) was chosen as the LSC South Defensive Player of the Week, in mid November.
Jefferson averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds in key LSC South Division match ups with Angelo State and Abilene Christian. Against ACU, he registered a career-high 26 points along with nine rebounds (five defensive), three steals and four assists. Jefferson hit 14 of his 15 free throw attempts and scored five straight points for the Hounds after the Wildcats trimmed a 19-point ENMU lead down to a single point. Against ASU, he grabbed nine defensive rebounds and two steals, along with 14 points scored.
