Asbestos has been discovered in the Texico Municipal Schools cafeteria and an elementary school classroom, school officials said Wednesday.
Superintendent R.L. Richards said safety precautions include roping off the cafeteria while students use a newly-constructed cafeteria.
Richards said Cures Environmental of Albuquerque, a licensed abatement company, was hired to perform removal of the asbestos.
Students who attended class in the elementary classroom are using another room while the removal is being performed, Richards said.
