Clovis police are seeking a warrant for a man they say eluded arrest Wednesday night and fled after getting his vehicle stuck in a field east of Clovis.
Around 9 p.m. in the 1800 block of Mabry Drive, Chief Steve Sanders said his officers spotted a man they knew to have an outstanding warrant.
Sanders said the suspect became nervous and officers observed he was reaching for what appeared to be a weapon in his waistband.
Before officers could apprehend him, he fled, first south on Norris Street, then east on Brady Avenue, Sanders said.
Sanders said officers noted after about three miles, the suspect’s vehicle was traveling too fast to navigate a turn where the pavement on Brady Avenue turns into a dirt road.
Overshooting the turn, the suspect drove into a field and got his truck stuck, fleeing on foot before officers reached him.
Sanders said he did not have information about the speeds the pursuit reached and declined to identify the suspect pending charges.
He said the pursuit lasted about three minutes.
