A 26-year-old man is being treated for life threatening injuries following a shooting Wednesday in south Clovis.

Daniel Perez was taken to a Lubbock hospital shortly after being transported to Plains Regional Medical Center, according to Curry County Undersheriff Wesley Waller.

Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of South Valley Street on reports of an individual who was shot, Waller said.

Police records indicated Perez was shot in the head, but Waller declined to discuss specifics.

“It is a very active and ongoing investigation as we speak and I’m limited on details that I can provide because of the current status of the investigation,” he said.

“It’s my understanding he received serious life-threatening injuries.”

Waller declined to discuss details of the shooting and would not say if there is a suspect in the case.

He said there were no arrests Thursday.

Waller said the Major Crimes Unit — a consortium of law enforcement agencies in the region that pools experience and resources — was activated.
