A hearing is being held 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the multi-purpose room of Lockwood Elementary School to discuss the possibility of using emergency funds from a Community Development Block Grant to address water shortages in south Curry County.

The county is eligible to apply for up to $500,000 for activities that benefit low and moderate income residents, aids in prevention of blight and slum or meets other community development needs in conditions that pose a serious and immediate threat to the health and welfare of the community.

Grant writer Rachel Visser said the hearing is being held to discuss water issues faced by residents and to get ideas.
