The city of Clovis will be hosting a signing of a resolution of support for the city’s Affordable Housing Plan at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the assembly room of the Bert Cabiness City Government Center, 321 Connelly Street.
The plan was approved 6-1 in a May 5 Clovis City Commission meeting, but was forced to a referendum election through citizen petitions.
Absentee voting is ongoing for the Aug. 2 special election, and early voting runs Wednesday through July 29.
Polls will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Aug. 2. Precincts will be the same as the ones used in the May 3 referendum election, with the exception that Precinct 24 voters will vote at Yucca Middle School instead of Living Stones Community Church.
Signees include Curry County, the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce, Clovis Industrial Development Corporation, Clovis Main Street Program, Clovis Branch of the NAACP and United Way of Eastern New Mexico. Clovis Mayor Gayla Brumfield will also read letters of support for the plan which have been received from the federal delegation and Cannon Air Force Base.
