State police have arrested a fifth suspect and are asking the community for help in locating a sixth suspect in connection with the slaying of 33-year-old Shirley Pacheco, said Sgt. Tim Johnson.

Henry Martinez, 19, of Tucumcari, was arrested at his place of employment in Tucumcari on Tuesday.

Johnson said Martinez was booked into the Quay County Adult Detention Center on charges of harboring or aiding a felon.

Johnson said police are also seeking information or the whereabouts of Dennis Joseph Hendren 36 , of Tucumcari.

“Hendren has active warrants out for his arrest for tampering with evidence, conspiracy to tamper with evidence and littering,” Johnson said.

Johnson said the arrest of Martinez and active search for Hendren is a result of the investigation into the July 9 homicide.

“We believe Hendren is still in the Tucumcari area,” Johnson said.

Hendren is described as 5-feet-8 inches, 180 pounds with brown hair and eyes.

Anyone with information about him is asked to call the New Mexico State Police office in Tucumcari at (575) 461-3300.
