Texico residents top State 42 tournament

The double championship weekend was a success.

Results of the first High Plains 42 Championship. This first time eight-game championship was a success with 11 teams attending.

The new High Plains 42 Champions are Lacye Comer of Amarillo and Dick Holland of Canyon, Texas winning seven games.

Second place: Dewey Pierce of Texico and Bill Myers of Melrose winning five games with 47 points.

Third place: Marjorie Watkins and Floretta Wood, both of Farwell, winning five with 41 points.

Fourth place: Frank Glover of Melrose and Thomas Moody of Roswell winning four games with 44 points.

Fifth place: Bill Huff of Roswell and Jerry Whitney of Texico winning four games with 43 points.

Results of the 5th annual New Mexico State 42 Championship.

This 10-game tournament was a success with 11 teams attending.

The new state champions are Danny Powell and Roy McDaniel, both of Texico, winning eight games with 60 points.

Second place: Bill Huff of Roswell and Jerry Whitney of Texico winning with seven games with 61 points.

Third place: Lynn McDaniel of Texico and Tex Smith of Farwell winning six games with 62 points.

Fourth place: Melody Reid and Father Doug Reid of Clovis winning six with 56 points.

Fifth place: Richie Reid of Clovis and Nancy Barnes of Pleasant Hill winning six games with 55 points.
