Letters to the editor: Crossing lacks proper maintenance

Crossing lacks proper maintenance

I don’t know if it was the railroad, the state, or the county that paid for the work that was done a couple of years ago to smooth out the railroad crossing going into Farwell, but whoever it was got taken to the cleaners.

That crossing gets an awful lot of traffic and should have motorists going over it in mind. I use it quite often and each time I do, I don’t know whether I’m going to have to pay for a front end alignment or a visit to the chiropractor.

On the other hand, the crossing going into Bovina off of Route 60, which has a lot less traffic, is properly done with diamond plate meeting the top of the tracks and thereby making it a lot more enjoyable crossing for motorists and their vehicles.

Surely all the freight going over those rails can pay for proper maintenance of crossings.

Only this time get someone to do it who knows what they’re doing.
