Cats beat Artesia 33-25, end four-game skid

ARTESIA — Senior quarterback Tre Orozco rushed for two second-half touchdowns, including a 3-yard score on fourth down with five minutes left in the game as Clovis beat Artesia 33-25.

Jonathan Johnson also ran for a pair of scores as Clovis (3-4) ended a four-game losing streak.

Johnson scored on a 4-yard run with 1:33 left in the second quarter to give Clovis a 13-10 halftime lead.

Kamal Cass’ 11-yard run midway through the first quarter gave Clovis a short-lived 7-0 lead as Artesia answered right away when Trevor Whitemore took the ensuing kickoff 80 yards for a score.

Clovis held a 166 to 116 edge in yards in the first half.
