County manager not subject of investigation
About the only thing Curry County officials are saying is: There is an investigation and County Manager Lance Pyle isn’t the subject.
Pyle was excluded from most of an executive session Tuesday that followed the county commission meeting at Melrose City Hall, then asked to attend for a few minutes near the end of the closed door session.
Responding to CNJ questions, Pyle issued a written statement the following afternoon saying commissioners told him in executive session:
• He “is not and was not the subject of an investigation.”
• The county commission “fully supports Lance Pyle as County Manager.”
• The county has a personnel policy that has been and will be followed.
• The commission expects every employee to follow chain of command with Pyle as county manager.
Pyle and Commissioner Frank Blackburn confirmed an investigation was being conducted the last several weeks at the request of County Attorney Stephen Doerr, who didn’t return calls.
Blackburn and Assistant County Manager Connie Harrison said the investigation was a personnel matter and they couldn’t discuss details. Blackburn did say, however, details that could be made public will be soon.
