RICHARDSON, Texas — Eastern New Mexico University’s Mike Harney has been chosen the Lone Star Conference men’s cross country coach of the year.
Harney led the Greyhounds to their first LSC title in the sport on Saturday at San Angelo, Texas, ending a run of 20 consecutive conference championships by Abilene Christian.
Six men and two women represented ENMU on the all-conference teams, which consisted of the top 15 runners in each race.
Junior Isaiah Samoei of Eldoret, Kenya, led the Hounds after winning individual honors in the meet. Senior Tallam Kipruto of Nairobi, Kenya (third); freshman Tyler Saiz of Albuquerque (sixth); senior Mohamed Noor of Lewiston, Maine (eighth); junior Jacob Lozano of Hobbs (10th), and sophomore Justin Netcher of Clovis (12th) also earned men’s all-conference honors.
For the women, who finished fifth in team standings, Nicky Reid of Pueblo, Colo. (ninth) and sophomore Adrienne Montoya of Estancia (13th) were named all-conference.
The Hounds and Zias return to action on Nov. 5 in the South Central Regional meet at Wichita Falls, Texas.
