A 38-year-old Clovis man faces 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to assaulting a police officer, possession of a controlled substance and breaking and entering.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor Andrea Reeb said David “Bo Bo” Lopez was charged with trying to break into a car in June while free on bond from a domestic violence incident in April.

In April, Clovis police said Lopez was spotted in a car speeding away from the address of the domestic call. Reeb said Lopez crashed into a utility pole and tried running away. She said police caught him after a short chase and there was a struggle. A substance that tested positive for methamphetamine was found on Lopez.

In June, officers responding to a call of a man attempting to break into cars again got into a foot chase with Lopez.

She said officers caught Lopez and witnesses identified him as the suspect trying to break into cars.
