Gene Bieker, retired executive director of operations for Clovis schools, is the new manager at Clovis Municipal Airport, city officials announced Wednesday.
“Mr. Bieker will be a great addition to the city team,” City Manager Joe Thomas said in a press release. “He brings with him a thorough knowledge of airport management and we look forward to his moving the ongoing upgrades at the airport forward.”
Bieker replaces Steve Summers, who resigned Nov. 14 to take a position as New Mexico’s state aviation director. Summers’ last day with the city is Friday. Bieker will assume the new position for the city on Dec. 1, according to Thomas.
Bieker retired in the summer after 13 years of working for the school system. He is also a career military man, who spent four years in the Navy and 22 years in the Air Force.
