Cannon commander nominated for promotion to brigadier general

CANNON AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. – Col. Albert “Buck” Elton II, commander of the 27th Special Operations Wing at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., is among 40 colonels President Barack Obama has nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.

“I am honored to be nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general,” said Colonel Elton. “This would not be possible without the support of my wonderful wife Karen, my family and the remarkable Airmen I am privileged to serve with.”

“Cannon’s Air Commandos demonstrate tremendous dedication, hard-work, and professionalism every day as they grow our base and deliver specialized airpower capabilities world-wide,” he said. “I want to thank the incredible communities of Clovis, Portales and Melrose for their unyielding support of our Airmen and their families; our partnership is critical to our mission’s success.”
