The Company Class of Clovis Community College will be presenting the play “The 39 Steps” 7 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday at the CCC Town Hall. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased in advance at the CCC cashier’s window or at the door the night of the show.
The play is described as Monty Python meets Alfred Hitchcock. A two-time Tony Award winner adapted for the stage by Patrick Barlow, “The 39 Steps” is based on a novel by John Buchan and the 1935 Hitchcock drama film.
“The 39 Steps” is a fast-paced ‘whodunit’ based on Hitchcock’s film of the same name. According to the Theater Director Christy Mendoza, the play will keep audiences on the edge of their seats and smiles on their faces.
Nine actors will play many characters including cross-gender parts, they will be making fast changes in order to keep up with the faced-paced action.
The play features Mark Schmidt as Richard Hannay, who is an unsuspecting tourist swept up in a spy ring and murder mystery, and Renee Jacqueline Drahman as Pamela, a beautiful woman who ends up accompanying Hannay during the adventure.
The cast includes, Chris Cummins, Wayne Davies, Rourk Blake, Tawney Durham, Leslie Nagy, Nick Sweat and Moriah Wortham.
