Reader-submitted content: First United Methodist presenting ‘A Festival of Christmas’

The Music Ministry of First United Methodist Church in Clovis will present “A Festival of Christmas” Sunday at both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. morning worship services.

FUMC considers this event to be our Christmas gift to the Community of Clovis and extends a warm invitation to all our friends and neighbors to attend one or both of the identical services. The church is located at 1501 Sycamore St. Rev. Keath Baskett is the Senior Minister and the presentation will be directed by Director of Music Ministries Ken McDonald.

Featured in the presentation will be the Chancel Choir, the Joyful Noyze (youth choir) and the Bethlehem Choir (children’s choir).

The presentation will be accompanied by live orchestra. Included in the service will be music by composers such as Milburn Price, John Gardner, Carolyn Jennings, Andre Thomas, Mack Wilberg, Paul Caldwell, Sean Ivory, Via Olatunji, Wendell Whalum and Keith Hampton.

The repertoire will range from the Nigerian Christmas Carol “Betelehemu” to the familiar carols of “Joy to the World,” “The First Nowell,” “Infant Holy, Infant Lowly” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.”
