Grady’s Lampley signs with OPSU

GRADY — Grady senior Joni Lampley has signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball next year at Oklahoma Panhandle State.

The 5-foot-1 Lampley has competed in volleyball, basketball and track for the Lady Bronchos, who went 6-13 last fall in volleyball under coach Robin Jones.

Lampley played libero in volleyball as a freshman and sophomore at Grady, Jones said, but moved to more of a front row position the last two years.

"She tried out at OPSU in March," said Jones, a 1986 Grady High grad and OPSU grad who will not be back at Grady next year. "I think she has a good future (in volleyball) in front of her.

"She's one of those where the ball never hits the floor without her going after it."

Jones, who has accepted a position for next year where she will coach cross country, basketball and track at Sunray, Texas, said Lampley could have accepted an offer to play either basketball or volleyball at OPSU.
