Press release: Clovis man shot in leg on Hull Street

Clovis – April 27, 2012 – On Friday, April 27, 2012, at approximately 8:54 AM, the Clovis Police Department Dispatch Center received a 911 call with information someone was involved in a fight outside of 915 N. Hull Street in the backyard and the caller heard gun shots fired and yelling . At approximately 9:04 AM the Emergency Room at Plains Regional Medical Center called the police department dispatch center and advised they had a person that was shot in the leg on Hull Street.

Clovis Police Officers arrived on the scene at 915 N. Hull Street and secured the house and property and began obtaining information from witnesses. A Detective responded to Plains Regional Medical Center and made contact with the victim and people that had accompanied the victim to the hospital to gain information as to what happened on Hull Street. The victim was identified as 36 year-old David Garcia of Clovis that lives at 915 N. Hull Street. The house was cleared by Clovis Police after obtaining a search warrant, but nobody was found inside. There was evidence of a shooting taking place located just inside of the back doorway.

From information gathered from witnesses and the victim it was learned that there was a verbal altercation between the victim and another man that he knows on the back steps of the house in the backyard area of the home at 915 N. Hull Street that turned violent when the man pulled a gun and shot the victim in the left lower leg. The victim David Garcia is acquainted with the shooter. The suspected name of the shooter is not being released at this time as the investigation is on-going. A motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. The victim David Garcia is in stable condition at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis as of the time of this press release.

An on-going investigation is being conducted by members of the Clovis Police Department Special Operations Unit Detective Division .The investigation continues with the collection of evidence and interviews.
