An article about Phoenix rapper Keize Montoya in the July edition of XPOZ Magazine highlighted the music career of an artist who moved to the city in 2005 to pursue his dream of reaching success independently.
Montoya, who went by J.T. when he grew up in Clovis, considers himself an all-around artist. He played keyboard in a Tejano at age 16 and now raps, sings, produces and does his album artwork. He markets his product under the label he created, Ethereal Entertainment.
Montoya recently released a single with a video called "Schemin'" and will shoot video for his song "On my Way" in Las Vegas, Nev. on Oct. 12.
He believes the article in XPOZ gave him good exposure in the southwest region of the U.S.
"Me being from the southwest, I kind of see Phoenix as the capitol of the region," Montoya said. "There are some artists who have gotten major deals from this region but there really hasn't been a signature sound coming from the southwest."
