Marcos Maestas, awaiting trial for three years in Curry County jail since his arrest for a bank robbery in Melrose, will stand trial June 18.
Maestas' attorney Jennifer Burrill said District Judge Drew Tatum ruled Friday that delays in his trial were reasonable.
Tatum also denied Burrill's motion to dismiss the case for violation of Maestas' right to a speedy trial.
"We believe the Court's ruling is in line with New Mexico law," District Attorney Matt Chandler said in an e-mail response. "We look forward to finally getting our chance to give the defendant and the victims in this case their day in court."
Maestas faces up to 15 years in prison. His three alleged accomplices all pleaded guilty and are incarcerated.
