Meetings watch — June 27

Public Works Committee

The Public Works Committee met on Wednesday and took the following actions:
• A recommendation was made to extend the storm drain on Norris Street 1,600 feet to the east, according to City Engineer Justin Howalt. This action will be placed on the next city commission agenda for approval.
• The committee approved that a request for proposal be made to create a city-wide master drainage plan.
• An audio signal will be installed for the visually impaired at the crosswalks at 21st and Mitchell streets. The crosswalks make use of sound to let visually impaired persons know when it is safe to cross the street. Howalt said the last audio-crosswalk signal installed cost about $7,000, and the price will be similar.
