Capital outlay requested for school bus, ag science equipment

In the final few minutes of the New Mexico Legislative session, lawmakers sent Gov. Susana Martinez a $233 million capital outlay package, just before adjournment — 12:01 p.m. for the House of Representatives, 12:11 p.m. for the Senate.

The session was to end noon Thursday.

Martinez has until March 12 to sign or veto capital outlay items. Any items not signed are pocket vetoed.

The following are capital outlay requests from area counties

 

Curry County

• Clovis: $200,000 for Seventh Street improvements

• Clovis: $320,000 for the effluent reuse pipeline system

• Clovis: $175,000 for MainStreet Program Building renovation funds

• Clovis: $50,000, O.G. Potter Park parking lot

• Curry County: $485,000, road improvements

• Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority: $100,000, land acquisition

• Grady: $100,000, school bus purchase

• Melrose: $50,000, Emergency sirens

Total requests: $1,480,000

 

De Baca County

• Fort Sumner: $24,000, furnishing and equipment for 10th Judicial District Attorney’s Office

• Fort Sumner: $180,000, purchase and equip refuse collection truck

Total requests: $204,000

 

Quay County

• Tucumcari: $15,000, Computer server for 10th Judicial District attorney’s office

• Tucumcari: $140,000, Mesalands Community College roofing and HVAC improvements

• Tucumcari: $75,000, New Mexico State University Ag Science Center equipment

• Quay County: $186,000, Detention Center roof

• San Jon: $150,000, Ambulance

• Tucumcari: $300,000, City landfill trash compactor

• $50,000, Ute Reservoir intake structure study

Total requests: $816,000

 

Roosevelt County

• Causey: $100,000, water system improvements

• Dora: $100,000, Ag shop building improvements

• Elida: $30,000, High school shop building exhaust system

• Portales: $606,000, Multipurpose stadium for Eastern New Mexico University

• Floyd: $75,000, Floyd Schools security system

• Portales: $25,000, Fire department substation construction

• Portales: $15,000, Portales High School welding/agriculture building exhaust system

• Portales: $95,000, Well field improvements

• Roosevelt County: $112,000, Road improvements

• Roosevelt General Hospital: $173,000, Radiology room

• Roosevelt General Hospital, $100,000, Roof upgrades

Total requests: $1,431,000.
