SNYDER, Texas — Eastern New Mexico University’s women racked up their sixth team win in eight rodeos this year, taking the Western Texas College team title with 305 points to 240 for runnerup Tarleton State over the weekend.
ENMU leads the Southwest Region for the season with 1,655 points while TSU is second at 1,245 1/3.
Junior Keely Weger placed fourth in the first go of breakaway roping, but split first and second in the short round to win the average. She posted times of 2.2 seconds in both rounds.
Senior Odessa Yazzie and freshman Lindsey Adcock split second and third in the event.
Also, junior Hayden Segelke placed second in goat tying with a time of 14.6 on two, while Adcock split third and fourth in the event. Freshman Tierra Gray placed sixth in the first go of barrel racing.
The ENMU men were ninth with 110 points. Tarleton and Odessa College split team honors with 540 points apiece.
For the Greyhounds, senior Rodney Garcia teamed with Eli Lord from Odessa College to place third in team roping. They were second in the first go and third in both the short go and average.
ENMU squads travel to the Howard College Rodeo this weekend in Big Spring, Texas.
