Fast facts

The first Santa Fe Railway cars arrived in Clovis from Albuquerque on Dec. 18, 1907.

Engineer Jeff Roberts brought the train in at night and initially failed to see the townsite. He had to back his train into the station.

• Roosevelt County Commission, 9 a.m. today at the Roosevelt County Courthouse

• Roosevelt General Hospital board, 5:30 p.m. today at the  RGH conference room

• Portales City Council, 7 p.m. today at Portales City Hall

• Eastern New Mexico University Board of Regents, 3 p.m. Saturday, ENMU Administration Building Regents Room
