Starting Friday hundreds of pooches will test their athletic abilities at the Curry County Events Center in the American Kennel Club’s Stars and Stripes dog agility trial.
The event is being hosted for the third year in a row by the Clovis-Portales Kennel Club.
Organizers expect 330 dogs to compete each day, with events lasting through Sunday.
Admission is free and events will run from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with dogs in the excellent category competing first, then open competitions then novice competitors.
An AKC sanctioned event, the competition features all breeds and mixed breeds and draws competitors from across the country.
“We will have many of the best agility dogs in the nation and many outstanding handlers,” said a press release, which classified the event as, “great family fun.”
Concessions will be available each day. Spectators are not allowed on the arena floor and are prohibited from taking flash photography.
