Clovis Quilters

The Clovis Quilters met Aug. 10 at Trinity Luthern Church with 13 members and three guest present Wilma Acord from North Carolina, Linda Thrower and Judy Chavez. Brenda Harpold called the meeting to order.

Guild reports were given.

Upcoming events were announced. Brenda and Tina Rameriz encouraged members to help with the guild quilt show next year and gave an update.

Bonnie Barkley presented the Block of the Month for July and Brenda the one for August.

Show and tell items were shared.

Jeaneane Serna won 5 charity plus blocks and Bonnie Barkley won 10 fat quarters.

Quilt Guild

The Llano Estacado Quilt Guild met July 25 at Trinity Luthern Church with 11 members and guest teacher Darlene Collins from Dimmitt, Texas.

Elizabeth Lawrence called the meeting to order. Introductions were made with favorite hymns. Sheryl Abdill read the minutes and Leigh Reynolds gave the treasurers report. Reports were given from the different charity projects.

Upcoming Midland Quilt Show, High Plains Quilt Festival and Llano Estacado Quilt Show were discussed. Those who attended the Ogallala Teacher’s Academy gave reports. A nominating committee was appointed.

Show and tell times were shared with several of the charity quilts and opportunity quilts being shown. Membership updates were given.

Collins taught the group how to dye fabrics using Jacquard paints and rock salt. A break was taken for a potluck meal and fellowship.
