Author scheduled to speak monthly

Jewish studies author Sam Peak will be speaking in Clovis once a month for the next year.

Peak will speak at 6 p.m. at the Best Western Clovis Inn every third Monday. In September, Peak will speak on the second Monday of the month.

Benefit concert being held for dialysis patient

First Christian Church is hosting a benefit concert for 3-year-old Jordan McGregor, who spent a month on a pediatric dialysis machine.

Money raised at the concert will help his family pay for medical bills. Local bands such as Billy Borden, Don Thomas and Andy Mason will be featured at the concert.

The concert will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church.
