The New Mexico State Police will be conducting a series of Sobriety Checkpoints throughout Curry and Roosevelt Counties. These Sobriety Checkpoints, as well as saturation patrols have been conducted as part of the 100 Days and Nights of Summer. State Police will continue tonight with a Check Point in Curry County. Checkpoints operations will also continue weekly throughout the remainder of the summer.
The New Mexico State Police would like to remind everyone that drinking and driving is illegal and can lead to injuries or death, especially during inclement weather.
Officers from the New Mexico State Police will join their fellow officers from throughout New Mexico to make sure that all motorists are buckled up and driving safely and soberly. Officers will be conducting saturation patrols and checkpoints throughout New Mexico through this month and the months to follow.
For drivers over 21, the legal Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) in New Mexico is .08. For those under 21, there is a zero tolerance for alcohol in the system. The legal limit is .02.
