Clovis police have confirmed a man’s body was discovered about 10 a.m. Thursday inside a vehicle parked in a lot across from headquarters.

“It appears to be a suicide,” Capt. Patrick Whitney said. “There was no sign of foul play, there was a note, it definitely appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot.”

The body was sent to Albuquerque for an autopsy, he said.

Whitney said the victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
