A wonderful collection of watercolors called “Realism 2009” by Betty Blevins of Lubbock will be on exhibit from May 5 through June 30 in the Eula Mae Edwards Museum/Gallery at Clovis Community College. Blevins states that preserving memories of the past can inspire the present.  She has had many opportunities to “keep alive” a beloved site, structure, or item by capturing its detail and sense of presence in watercolor.

Having been juried into numerous exhibitions throughout the United States her special honors include:  United States Coast Guard COGAP Artist, Twelve Outstanding Artists of Texas, and State of Texas 1986 Sesquicentennial Calendar.  Her work has been featured in many publications such as:  Painting Light & Shade by Patricia Seligman, Texas Watercolor Society—Fifty Years of Excellence edited by Donna Walston, and Watercolor, Winter, 1998, “What Inspires Me:  The Iron Horse and Its Keepers”.  Blevins is a Signature Member of Texas Watercolor Society, Georgia Watercolor Society, and West Texas Watercolor Society.

A reception to meet the artist and view her work will be held on May 5, 2009, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. in the museum/gallery.

The public is invited.
