New Mexico Secretary of Education Dr. Veronica C. García has been invited to the White House for a Wednesday briefing session with Vice President Joe Biden and U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan about the federal stimulus package.
Secretary García and other state school chiefs from around the nation are meeting at the White House to learn more about the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and its impact on education.
“This historic investment in New Mexico represents an incredible opportunity to strengthen our economy and maintain the progress underway in our public schools,” Secretary García said.
“The success of New Mexico’s economy is closely linked to education, and I am pleased that President Obama and Secretary Duncan recognize the role of state school chiefs in this time of crisis,” Secretary García said.
