Music is a positive influence on me and something I enjoy and can turn to when I’m in a good or a not-so-good mood.

Music is all around us from the sounds of nature to rhythms of society. Music defines cultures and relates to us individually.

Music has evolved from primitive songs to elite orchestras to computer generated melodies. Music can trigger memories as well as make them. Music is an unavoidable ingredient in my life.

When I was in fifth grade I auditioned and was accepted in ambassador choir. Then, I started band in sixth grade on the clarinet under the direction of Karl Powell.

I am currently in eighth grade and play bass clarinet and contra bass clarinet. I am also band  president at Yucca Middle School and first chair in my section.

My two positive role models who I look up to are my band director, Keith Sacane, who supports me and encourages me to become a better music student as well as pursue my music goals; and my private tutor, Dr. Tamara Raatz, who has inspired me to work harder and play my best.

Rebecca Dewbre is an 8th-grade student at Yucca Middle School, the Yucca band president and first chair bass clarinet in All-District Band.
