Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
About 11 a.m. Jan. 19 an officer responded to a business in the 2000 block of Seventh Street for a report of an assault.
A woman said she went to the store to get a newspaper and as she pulled in, a man she has had problems with in the past saw her and started yelling at her.
She said she went in the store and he circled the parking lot, waiting for her.
When she got back in her vehicle and started backing out, the woman said the man drove towards her at a high rate of speed, coming within inches of hitting her.
Witnesses confirmed the woman’s story and the incident was captured on surveillance footage.
The officer noted intent to consult with the district attorney’s office on the case.

Around 4 p.m. Jan. 19 an officer took a battery report at the police department.
A woman said her boyfriend hit her after she caught him in bed with another woman.
The officer noted the woman had blood around her nose and mouth, swelling on her forehead and grass and burs stuck to her clothing.
She said she knew her boyfriend was cheating on her so she went to his house to get her things.
When she opened the bedroom, she said she saw him having sex with another woman. She said she told him she was there to get her things and he threw his car keys at her.
The woman said she gathered her things and the man came after her and threw a football at her, then grabbed her and threw her to the ground so she slapped him and he body slammed her to the ground and punched her twice in the face.
The man was arrested for battery on a household member.

About 9 a.m. Jan. 21 an officer responded to a business in the 2000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for a dispute.
A man said he was sitting in the waiting room and noticed the woman behind him was acting strangely and slid her foot under his chair and was dragging her foot towards herself.
The man said when he got up for his appointment, he discovered his wallet was gone from his back pocket. The man said he asked the woman if she took his wallet and she got upset.
The man said when police were called, a male with the woman went into the bathroom.
The officer found the man’s wallet on top of a light fixture in the bathroom.
The officer noted intent to obtain a warrant for tampering with evidence and larceny.

Around 3 p.m. Jan. 21 an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Sandia for found property.
A man said someone left a hammer in the bed of his pickup truck.
He said another time, someone left a shopping cart in his yard and he wanted the culprit found and stopped.
