The Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico has thrown out about 15 items flagged for possible salmonella contamination in a nationwide peanut butter product recall.
Nancy Taylor, executive director of the food bank, said her staff is doing all it can to prevent any possibly contaminated products from leaving their warehouse through careful inventory.
She also urged consumers to inspect items that have been in their pantries for a long time.
“Pay attention to everything,” she warned. “Items made with peanut butter and peanut paste usually have a long shelf life. Things that have been stored away need to be looked at.”
