Clovis Quilter’s Club

The Clovis Quilter’s Club met November 10 at Trinity Luthern Church. Elizabeth Lawrence taught the 9-Patch Pizzazz workshop with 15 members participating. The group enjoyed a potluck meal.

Sheryl Abdill called the meeting to order with 21 members attending the meeting.

New members Martine Bartz, Pat Russell and Joan Tetters were welcomed. Pat Hensley gave the treasurers report.

Plans for next year were discussed and voted on. Reports were given on the High Plains Quilts Festival. Plans were finalized for the Christmas party.

Tickets were handed out for the opportunity quilt. Jeanette Biddle had the block of the month. Amy Armenta had the spool for the mystery block. Show and tell items were shared. ‘Jeanetta Mesner won the Charity plus blocks and Regina Abdill won the fat quarter drawing.

Following the meeting the workshop continued.

The next meeting will be the Christmas party on Dec. 8.


Clovis Education Association

The Clovis Education Association met Oct. 30 at the Ingram Room of the Clovis-Carver Public Library.

Molly Smith, CEA president, was the hostess.

Smith welcomed members and guests to the back-to-basics meeting. Andrés Becerra, NEA-NM Southeast Region uniserv director, gave a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the benefits of being a member.

Sharon Morgan, NEA-NM president, gave an update of standards of excellence. Charles Bowyer, NEA-NM executive director, gave a report on the fall conference held in Albuquerque.

These guests answered questions from members and potential members.

The next meeting will be hosted by Smith.
