An 18-year-old was arrested by Curry County sheriff’s deputies for stabbing a teen during an altercation early Thursday morning, according to Undersheriff Wesley Waller.
Caleb Negrete is charged with aggravated battery on a household member with a deadly weapon, concealing identity and resisting an officer. He is being held on $11,500 bond, jail officials said.
Waller said deputies responded to a residence on N.M. 209 around 2 a.m. for a report of a public affray.
When deputies arrived, they found Negrete and a 17-year-old male fighting. Waller said Negrete was armed with a knife and the other subject had been stabbed.
The victim was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries, Waller said.
The case is still under investigation.
